The First Leaf

I walk out in the yard this morning, and my eye catches something clear at the edge of the tree line by the pond.  Something red it looks like.  Just lying there in the grass.  Puzzled, I quickly put on my outdoor shoes and head that direction.  It is early in the morning for me, and my eyes are still cloudy with sleep.  I keep rubbing them to focus on what that bright red object could be, but I'm still way too tired to see that far away. As I get closer, though, I begin to think I know what shape that is.  Gasp! Yes, it is the very first leaf of Fall! Summer is waning now, the mornings becoming more and more cool.  And now, here it is.  The first turned leaf, fallen in our yard. What a treat that I got to see it today, that I have witnessed Fall's declaration.

Working on my scrapbook calendar, I found this wonderful old picture! I took the opportunity to play with my new photo editing tool I downloaded to my phone.
